The Artist · A Profile

WendyNicole

From Macará, Ecuador, to some of New Jersey’s most respected chairs: more than a decade of artistry, built one face at a time.

Wendy’s story begins in Macará, a small city on Ecuador’s southern border. It still shows in the way she works: warm, attentive, and personal. More than ten years later, that instinct for people has become her signature: a look that is polished and precise, and still unmistakably the client’s own.

An education behind the chair

Wendy learned the craft the way the best artists do: by working alongside great instructors, and for years under Zoila Burgas at Zoila’s Hair Design & Spa. Zoila brought nearly three decades of experience to her salon, from her beginnings in Peru to advanced training in Europe and years working in New York City. She passed on a simple standard: master every technique, so you can care for every client.

“Beauty isn’t about changing someone’s face. It’s about knowing what to emphasize.”

At Elite

Today Wendy is a makeup artist at Elite Salon & Spa in Bergen County, the house founded by Creative Director Marta Mehlmann and known for refinement, precision and continual advanced training. It’s a salon where every detail is intentional, and Wendy’s work fits right in.

The moments she’s known for

Weddings, bridal parties, quinceañeras and Halloween: the days when the photos last forever and the look has to last all night. Wendy offers both makeup and hair styling, so the whole look is designed together, whether it’s one bride, a quinceañera and her court, or a full party getting ready at once.

Teaching the next artists

Wendy teaches at NLA Academy of Artistry, sharing the same techniques she uses with her own clients: practical, precise, and built for real events and real timelines. Through Wendy Artistry Education she’s bringing that teaching into classes of her own.

Ten years in, the approach hasn’t changed: start with the person in the chair, and know exactly what to emphasize.
